Dartford Borough Council (DBC) approached SkootStor to provide a long-term sustainable storage and charging solution for residents with mobility scooters at Thatcher’s Court.

Here’s what they said…

We’ve seen a large increase in mobility scooter users and we make every effort to support mobility independence for everyone in our community. New health and safety guidelines, along with fire risk assessments have made compliance a real challenge in some of our buildings as residents are no longer allowed to store their scooters in communal areas. Subsequently the only option they were left with was to store their scooter in their own flats. This is often not a practical or safe solution and proved many problems for our residents.

We looked at several solutions and SkootStor was the only stand-alone, solar powered charging and storage facility which was a key factor for us. The solar solution makes the unit both sustainable and more cost effective for tenants as it produces its own electricity. All other options we considered needed a mains electricity supply. Our only available outdoor storage space on the site was a block paved car park. If we had opted for a mains powered solution we would have incurred the cost of laying cabling and digging up the car park which would have caused major access issues while the work was carried out.

Our new SkootStor units were erected quickly and efficiently by the SkootStor Team and caused no disruption to our residents. It’s safe to say our residents are over the moon with the new way to store their mobility scooters.
